The Woman Behind
The Breast Lab
OUR FOUNDER
Sophie Nikjoo, ARDMS
"I built The Breast Lab for every woman who has ever been told to wait, come back later, or figure it out on her own."
Sophie has been performing ultrasounds since 2017 and holds board certification through the ARDMS with a specialization in breast imaging. She began her career at a women's breast center, where she performed ultrasounds daily and supported patients through some of the most anxious, uncertain moments of their lives — including biopsies and difficult diagnoses. That experience gave her something no classroom could: a deep understanding of what women actually need when they're scared.
But the work became personal when Sophie lost her cousin to breast cancer. In the aftermath of that loss, she faced her own health anxiety and ran into the same barriers so many women do. Too young for a referral. Too busy for a six-week wait. Too overwhelmed by a system that wasn't designed with her in mind.
That's when The Breast Lab was born.
Sophie created this service to do one thing: make it easier for women to show up for themselves. No waiting rooms, no referrals, no insurance battles. Just expert care, in the comfort of your own home, from someone who genuinely understands what's at stake.
She is also the founder of Bun + Oven, an in-home ultrasound service for expecting mothers — because she believes every stage of a woman's health deserves the same access, attention, and compassion.
When Sophie isn't scanning, you'll find her with her husband and two dogs, exploring LA's best restaurants and coffee shops, sweating through a Pilates class, or researching the latest in clean living. She brings that same curiosity and care to every appointment she walks into.
Dedicated to breaking down barriers — one scan at a time.
